Google released Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash on November 5, introducing a video-generation and editing model that produces clips up to 15 seconds across its video offerings. Google’s launch announcement states: “We have dropped the price 30% from Gemini Omni 1.1 making it available at $0.07 per second for 720p video.”
The announcement adds: “You can now edit clips through multi-turn conversations, which allows for faster adjustments without starting over.” For small-business owners, that suggests another production option for product explainers and advertising variants, not evidence of improved customer acquisition.
Google Cloud describes the workflow: “create drafts at 360p or 720p, then upscale the best creations to 1080p or 4K.” On visual accuracy, the launch announcement says the model follows product and other visual references more consistently. Google Cloud describes conversational editing: “refine the same clip, such as swapping a product, changing lighting, or changing camera angle, instead of starting over.”
Availability remains less clear across the announcements. The main announcement states: “Today, we’re rolling out Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash, and making it generally available across the Gemini API and Gemini for business .” The Cloud post gives a different timetable, saying access in Gemini for business is coming soon. It adds: “Audio references are gated behind allowlisting.”
Google Workspace’s separate notice says the Vids rollout began November 5, with “1–3 days for feature visibility”. Its eligibility description lists personal Google accounts and Workspace Business Starter, Standard and Plus among eligible accounts. The notice also says: “Users with AI Expanded Access add-on licenses have higher limits on usage of Omni in Vids.”
Vercel AI Gateway offers another route. Vercel’s announcement states: “Generate videos from text prompts with one API key and no separate Google account.” It also describes support for landscape and portrait output, native audio and follow-up edits.
The disclosed limitations remain relevant to businesses evaluating finished clips. Google’s launch announcement acknowledges continuing work on fast sports action, rapid script changes and complex physics. Google DeepMind’s Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash model card says speech-changing capabilities are restricted and that SynthID watermarks help identify generated content.
For founder-led businesses, a limited test would allow production costs and audience response to be compared before wider use, with product details and spoken claims checked before publication. The unresolved business question is whether cheaper production yields effective campaigns: the launch provides no evidence of marketing results, which will depend on the offer, audience, distribution and creative quality.
